During my constant search for refined goods (not only in clothes), I got found this time. Krug Champagne invited me for a year of ambassadorship for their deluxe products.

You may or may not have heard about Krug Champagne before. There are lots of Champagne companies out there, but what makes Krug so special lies in the past!

The Krug heritage

Joseph Krug was employed by Jacquesson, the leading Champagne House around 1834. He quickly became a partner, travelled widely, mixed with the influential, but was far from satisfied. Joseph dreamed of another way beyond the constraints that compromised Champagne quality.

At the age of 42, a time when most in his position would be close to retiring, he left the security of a comfortable career to risk it all. It was not an easy decision to take, especially considering he had married into the Jacquesson dynasty. But he was ready to put his vision to the test.

Unlocking the secret of sublime taste

He was convinced, that great champagne could only be achieved using good wines, tasted separately plot by plot, from good vineyards.
But there was one more key to unlock today’s unique quality: He needed to free the process from climatic moodiness. So he began to build a reserve of wines, each made of grapes from a separate plot of land with its own specific character. It soon became an extensive mixing palette, that makes Krug the most prestigious of Champagnes every year until today.

So you can imagine I’m more than happy to become a Krug ambassador – and taste and experience more of world’s most refined Champagne during the upcoming year.

Konstantin Filippou – Restaurant & Krug Ambassade Vienna

The right place to celebrate this occasion was at the excellent Restaurant Konstantin Filippou in Vienna, which also happens to also be the restaurant of choice for Krug.

Krug

Konstantin is known for refining a sublime taste, which helped him to become “Chef of the year 2016” of Gault-Millau – besides gaining 3 “hats” (Hauben) . Side note: Gault-Millau gave him 18 points on a scale up to 20 points, which have never been awarded, because Gault-Millau believes that perfection is unachievable! ;)

It was a pleasure watching this relaxed mastermind in his cooking atelier. And especially for me he created a vegetarian menu, which was really tasteful and special (ever heard of Puntarelle? It’s a kind of chicory, see photo below).

Krug

While introducing the top of the top in restaurants in Vienna, he still managed to make you feel very cosy, relaxed and welcome – which lets you enjoy the exclusive fine cuisine even more.
