For every dark side there has to be a bright side too. Here’s part 2 of my visual story for Omega’s Moonwatch – the bright side of the moon! It shows the aesthetic vision of the all white architecture of the island, that is so well integrated into the impressive dark landscapes of Lanzarote.
Everywhere on the island you can find the perfect combination of architecture and landscapes. Thanks to the genius of César Manrique Lanzarote is one of a kind when it comes to style and design.
His creations, integrated in the natural landscape are notorious for their simplicity. His works are recognized worldwide and he also made sure that the whole island becomes a true eye-candy. César Manrique managed to convince the government to remove all billboards and advertising signs on the whole island and also to make sure that only the traditional white architecture of Lanzarote is allowed.
All in all he was a very inspiring man, who once again showed what one individual can change and accomplish! Even in styling not only his world, but much of the world around (and after) him. He shaped and created a vision for a whole island and Lanzarote still profits from that. If you ever visit Lanzarote make sure to visit his creations.
