in this loud world it’s rare to find a quiet place. not far from vienna there’s the oldest continuously occupied cistercian monastery in the world called heiligenkreuz.
once you enter the grounds, you can somehow immediately feel the wisdom and peace of this place… let’s please keep it this way! if you’re there, don’t talk too much and soak in the wisdom and aura of this magic abbey. finding peace within this walls is easy. the monastery was founded in 1133. presently, over 80 monks belong to the monastic community, the focus of which is the liturgy and gregorian chant in latin.
actually we planned to shoot the canola fields nearby. unfortunately we missed the blossom by just a couple of days. suddenly it also began to rain. this is how we ended up changing our plans and shooting at heiligenkreuz abbey to find cover from the rain. so it’s a rather unusual choice for a fashion shoot, but quite a magical one.
the jeans shirt is from “cmmn swdn” – a brand launched in 2012, which is definitely one of the new brands you have to watch out for.
cmmn is designed by saif bakir and emma hedlund, who first met in 2004 in london while studying at prestigious schools central saint martins and london college of fashion. the simple and puristic style is also perfect for an abbey – silence for your eyes!
