when i was asked to be part of the #followyournature project from marc o’polo, i thought about going back to my birth state salzburg for a weekend. so it was a lucky coincidence that i got invited to go to zell am see and kaprun to explore a new area of salzburg.
the two insiders of the “sommerfrische salzburgerland” bernadette wörndl and barbara gollackner invited and showed me their personal tipps of this famous region. their project wants to inspire you to explore new hotspots and hidden treasures apart from the mainstream tourism routes. i was invited to an astonishing dinner at the impressive storage lakes of kaprun. i enjoyed 5 courses of locally handmade delicious cuisine made by bernadette wörndl and niki lang from “seewirt” zell am see.
kaprun is a municipality in the zell am see district in the state of salzburg. this place is well known in winter for the endless snow sports fun you can have there, but this place also rocks in summer time. you can hike, climb, ride mountain bikes, swim, ride boats and much more in this beautiful area. nearby is the kitzsteinhorn – with 3.000 meters one of the few glaciers in the austrian alps. i especially like the impressive scenery of the reservoirs for a summer hike and to have a perfect shooting backdrop. the massive structure of the dam wall makes for an amazing location, don’t you think?
marc o’polo – a swedish-german fashion label founded in 1967 – hooked me up with a complete look for this project. and yes: again the swedish people! i just cannot get enough of the timeless, classic appearance of their designs. i chose a cotton summer suit with a t-shirt for a reduced, elegant and classic inspired casual look – like i imagine men in the 50’s would have gone for a hike. okay maybe they would have also worn ties, but i didn’t want to take it too far ;)
