i just spent four days in paris during the men’s fashion week with grey cold weather. and vienna is also a grey place right now – so it’s time to get some fresh air in the mountains again. here i got to spend a weekend in the glacial paradise of stubai with stroh a few weeks ago.

and when there is fresh air you also need something to warm up. this is where stroh rum comes handy. it’s a product which at least my austrian readers will already know from their grandmas bakery. now they have created a recipe for a juicy hot beverage best enjoyed at your winter chalet.

what i learned about stroh? it was already founded more than 180 years ago! at the world exhibition in paris in 1900, stroh was awarded the “grand gold medal” and from then on the great success of stroh could not be stopped – in austria as well as abroad. today, stroh still is the leading spirits brand from austria and is sold in more than 40 countries all over the world.

i loved the combination with the fresh apple juice and cinnamon – a really good drink after an exciting day out in the snow.

apfelstrohdel: ( i slightly changed the recipe from the original for a less sweet and spicy version – this serves 2 people)

  • 0,4 l apple juice (i prefer cloudy juice)
  • 1 table spoon cinnamon
  • 1 table spoon cane sugar
  • 6 cl STROH

heat up the apple juice with the cinnamon and the sugar. let it cool down for a couple of moments. then add the rum and one apple slice for decoration and you are ready to go!
