It seems to be a never ending trend… But oversized is not just a fashion trend, it’s here to stay.
At least I think it’s not over at all and won’t be any time soon. The idea was probably born in the 1920’s when women started wearing more masculine oversized clothes. And of course it came from America – the country where it’s easily possible to get oversized clothes in pretty much every store.
Later the hip hop scene played a big roll in growing the oversized trend into the menswear section.
Oversized goodness
Large influential design houses like Raf Simons, J.W.Anderson and lately Korean brands like Juun.J and Ader refined the style even more. Now it’s not about wearing wide clothes without any shape all over anymore, but it’s combined with fitting pieces.
During my Florida trip last week I had the chance to get an oversized shirt without spending lots of dollars – just in an outlet store nearby. The solution: You gotta enter the big&tall section in those stores! Of course it’s no designer piece, but the look is right and it’s even more individual this way.
If something is really too big for your physique, it’s important to add some accessories – so you won’t look like you’re just covered in bed sheets. For this reason, I decided to accompany the look with my latest accessory – a reflective backpack from the creative Viennese Brand CAAK.
