When Krug Champagne asked me to be their brand ambassador for 2017, I was quite excited. Not only is the brand the equivalent for elevated taste when it comes to champagne, but they also collaborate with a network of interesting restaurants throughout Austria. This time my journey with Krug Champagne brought me to the Aurelio in Lech – a renowned luxury ski region in the westernmost part of Austria.
During my travels food is always an important part for me. Therefore I love visiting interesting restaurants wherever I travel to discover new tastes. But my journey with Krug Champagne actually started in my hometown Vienna, at Konstantin Filippou’s gourmet temple in Vienna (read more in the last blogpost). My second stop now brought me to Lech am Arlberg and the wonderful Aurelio.
The Aurelio at the Arlberg fits seamlessly into the exclusive taste experience. The Hotel and Chalet resort is located in a beautiful small skiing village in the middle of one of Austria’s most beautiful ski regions on the border of Tyrol and Vorarlberg.
Upon entering the Aurelio you get a very warm welcome. Every room in the Aurelio features unique design and you can feel the love in every detail. If you travel with a group the Aurelio offers you one of Austria’s most exclusive and luxurious chalets with 6 rooms – including your own spa and indoor swimming pool. Here you can truly relax after a long day of skiing or snowboarding on the more than 300 kilometers of slopes in the region.

The Food experience
When it comes to love food is also very important ;) The team around Chef de Cuisine Christian Rescher und Souschef Markus Niederwanger were awarded by Gault Millau with 3 “Hauben” (17 Pts)! That means – well that the food tastes outstanding.
And the culinary art at Aurelio isn’t only for your tastebuds. The most outstanding dish was the surprise dessert – a compliment from the chef: A chocolate mousse mushroom with a porcini aroma served on a stone platter which looks just cut out straight of the woods. A very special and unique taste experience! And of course best served with a glass of Krug champagne ;-)
We should learn from food masters like Christian & Markus and celebrate it much more also in our daily lives. If you cook with love and full of awareness you also eat that! If you cook just to get some food down your throat – well, you just get something to keep your stomach full.
