Ok, even when we won’t believe and wish it, winter is coming back every year. Luckily puffer jackets are on fire these days – so at least no need to worry about the style in the cold.

I remember when I was a teenager warm jackets were pretty uncool. Even in winter it was just an ugly necessity and most of the time I tried to survive in just one really thin cotton jacket the whole year. Not to think about a down jacket – something you could only wear as an Arctic explorer back then.

But times change and Puffer Jackets are really en vogue right now! You can spot the cool kids wearing them already in August. In front of fashion shows you need to sport one of these fluffy isolations to get the attention of street style photographers like Adam from le21eme.com and Co.!

I don’t know if I have mentioned this already somewhere on the blog, but Timberland was one of the first brands working together with me at the beginning of thelionheaded.com in 2015! The traditional brand with it’s roots in Boston is still number one when choosing footwear for the wet & cold winter explorations – also in the city.

High expectations

I don’t need to explain how good the boots are, because everyone knows already ;) Besides making great boots Timberland also produces technically highly evolved jackets. For their puffer jacket they use 90/10 down jackets -which is the highest quality on the market. It means 90% down to 10% feathers.

Maybe you thought down jackets only consist of down filling? If you buy cheap ones you will get a higher share of feathers in the filling and they will still be sold as down jackets! Feathers are heavier and have less insulation when compared to down. 90/10 is the highest down share they can achieve at the moment.

And besides that Timberland also does care about the animals (something very important for me as long time vegetarian). The R.D.S certified down makes sure there is an ethical standard for the production.
