There is a saying, that all roads lead to Rome. But for me, the road was leading to Venice last weekend. And since a few hours are not enough to grasp the beauty of the city, I’d recommend to stay at least one or two nights. Therefore it’s a good idea to find a perfect “current home” like the Palazzina Hotel.
We are all so busy running around in this hectic world and doing stuff. A short city trip comes as a great escape. But not every city makes for a good place to relax. Only some cities have the power to grab your hectic mind and push it into the here and now – the only real thing we have in life.
Venice is one of those cities. It helps to loose your sense of time. Why? The narrow and ancient paths between concrete and water bring your concentration back to the present – without too many distractions (at least when you come in low season). It’s not only once that one might feel completely lost, but in a good way.
You know the answer is around the corner, since everything is pretty small and in walking distance. So even if you are loosing your orientation and the feeling of time, you won’t feel scared of being lost completely. Even the locals have their problems finding the right direction from time to time – as we could experience live last weekend when meeting the local Instagramer Marco.
Since there are no cars or other motorised methods of transportation, you’ll basically spend the whole day on your feet in Venice. After the exhaustion of running around it’s great to have a welcoming home, that is also located centrally in Venice.
The combination of different shapes, forms and materials make for a really comfortable atmosphere. It feels like coming home to your grand dame of an aunt, who has been collecting designer furniture and art since ages and your eyes have a lot of things to explore. But of course Starck’s version is the luxury version of your aunt’s ;)
The Palazzina is not only a super cozy high end luxury Venetian palace. It also transforms into one of the hottest night clubs of the city – especially when the Biennale is around it’s the number one address to hang out! This information was also approved by our local friend Marco again – who might have spend one or the other night there partying.
Ok, if you’re not caught by the party scene, maybe you are interested in having a good glass of Champagne? You already know my favourite brand by now! Yes, it’s Krug and yes the Palazzina also offers an exclusive Krug Lounge with a terrace adjacent directly to the Grand Canal. This place is like an elegant and muted library, but you can also book a very romantic dinner for two there. ;)
Besides the pictured avocado toast plus eggs benedict, I also had the chance to taste a fine potato soup with a parmesan croissant, which is part of the Krug tasting menu. I’m still dreaming about this dish, so I definitely have to go back to the Palazzina just to experience this taste again!
