It’s official: I’m a time-traveler from the good old times. This time I travelled to the 80’s to get that nostalgic feeling.
Female retro power
My absolute favourite designer at the moment feels that vibe too. Martine Rose is the unofficial president of retro. Not only was she selected by Demna to create his Balenciaga Men’s collection, but she also has her own label. Even her logo is inspired by an old tag she found on a vintage garment from a flea marktet. My jacket here is from last winter’s collection, but her current collection is still inspired by 80’s athleisure.
Martine inspired me to bring back that teenage behaviour of browsing through second hand stores for unique pieces with the beloved retro attitude. Good design never gets old is something I preach a lot on this blog, but it really gains traction at the moment! Next week I’ll show you one of my newest finds from Vienna’s vintage stores.
Only when it comes to shoes I’m still not into vintage… When looking at shoes in second hand stores they still gross me out. So it comes handy, that there are some really good retro dad core sneakers besides the already rather overhyped Balenciaga model. MSGM has this style with rope piping (it’s now available via Zalando).
