The virtual world is taking over. Virtual reality stars like @lilmiquela are gaining millions of followers – and maybe at some point taking our jobs. Can real people keep up in this world? Maybe augmented reality is the key!
What is real?
Okay – virtual reality stars might be flawless, but on the other hand is there really a difference between a highly retouched blogger pic and the digital fiction? ;) And how about bringing the virtual world into reality? Augmented reality can kill your long Photoshop nights. Why keep retouching, when you can create a completely new world?
As long as real people have to create virtual stars and especially configure their fashion sense I see no problem at all. The good thing: The virtual star is never moody (unless your computer has some technical issues), it will wear everything you dress it in and it also will sell things like vacuum cleaners and washing detergents to the audience while you still can walk through the public without being ashamed.
My outfit in this editorial might be the antidote to augmented reality. You know I’m surfing the retro wave theses days. Gosha’s 90’s rave-inspired longsleeve just fits seamlessly into the Jurassic Park ambience of this editorial. But, thinking back – even that movie seemed like the beginning of augmented reality! Let’s see if augmented just becomes regular reality one day…
