Don’t we all sometimes feel the urge to hide?
Express to impress
My interest in fashion started even before puberty really hit. Since I was a rather shy boy back then, I went for the bold stuff in fashion and style to express myself (without having to use words). Wearing bold stuff in a small village in Upper Austria led to quite some amount of talking. This way I became the fodder for conversation for the whole neighbourhood.
Blend in to hide away
In my mid-twenties my fashion boldness calmed down and I recognised that sometimes it was good to camouflage and blend in with the crowd. Since walking around with bold haircolors and smokey eyes led to a lot of unwanted attention. I was checked out by the police wherever I went and was even shouted at in public.
So after a period of fashion expression and boldness “hiding” myself in a little bit more established look also became very relaxing. But as you know me, this period also passed – and I now am not afraid of criticism about my rather eccentric sense of fashion anymore.
One thing is clear: I will never settle for the uniformity of the masses anymore. So you also won’t see me with ripped jeans, yeezy sneakers and a Supreme boxlogo t-shirt – the normcore fashion look of our times.
My soft hiding look
The perfect accessory for hiding are sunglasses. It feels like a natural shelter against glances from outside. Paradoxically with shades you can stand out as well. This time with the VIU EYEWEAR x Saskia Diez collab.
