The Italian heritage luxury outdoor expert Colmar has picked up the ongoing collaboration trend. By founding the new A.G.E. series they make sure to be on the tide of times. And they’re kicking off the line with no other than “Enfant terrible” Shayne Oliver!
Heritage vs. Contemporary
Colmar is in the fashion business since more than 90 years, yet still family run. Shayne Oliver on the other hand created his own label “Hood by Air” and also closed it again – all in his lifetime. But not only for bad – Shayne decided to focus on the creative part of his work and is the number one collab creator these days.
From Longchamp to Helmut Lang he was busy collaborating while his own label got closed. The positive side effect: By designing for other brands the whole logistic and production thing is sorted out (which, for a creative person, is just a pain in the ass anyway).
The newly invented platform A.G.E. (Advanced Garment Exploration) by Colmar is here to bring their heritage into the future. So for this collab named “Alpine Nostalgia” , Shayne Oliver also got the chance to dive deep into Colmar’s archive to get inspired. Of course he added some oversized boldness and made sure to double up sleeves and hoods wherever he could!
“Colmar has an incredible heritage in outerwear and it is indisputably the master of ski apparel. Searching through their almost centenary archives was exciting.” says Shayne Oliver in an interview with Hypebeast.
Rumor has it that there will also be a summer collection from “Master” Shayne so I’m already excited for what’s coming next! But I’m also looking forward to new designers digging into Colmar’s heritage to create the future of outdoor fashion.
Sideplot – Ashley Marc Hovelle
Besides the collab piece shown in this post I also wanted to introduce you to the clean Ashley Marc Hovelle brand from Berlin. Founded back in 2009 the high streetwear brand is here to stay. The latest Fly collection is especially made for you explorers out there! For this editorial I decided to go for some fair trade basics which I absolutely love.
