Back to Vienna, back to seasons and to autumn moodiness. What keeps my mood bright: That also means it’s time to step up the layering game again.
No news here, I’m a fashion victim and a shopping addict since early teenage years. But maybe you don’t know that my absolut favourite way to spend money is by investing in jackets and coats.
Maybe because outerwear is the most complex and interesting kind of garment. From pockets to different closing mechanisms, lengths, linings and collar options – finally there’s some variety! And a good coat or jacket is completing (or changing) every look.
Since we all tend to go for comfort – especially outerwear has to be lightweight, while still being sturdy and protecting. Yet times are over when we wore boxy superheavy coats and jackets just to get that extra protection from the cold. (When you still like that retro feel there are luckily a lot of retro checked pieces available right now.)
The coat I wear here is from Hugo Boss by Zalando and has a lightweight, but thick applied mesh lining and buttons on the side to bring in some future vibes! For some extra warmth layering another shorter jacket below the coat comes in handy.
Balenciaga shows us that there is no such thing as overlayering this season. The outerwear are a conglomerate of different layered pieces. Unfortunately the prizes for these non separable layering pieces are around the range of a compact car… so rather unreachable :)
I have to say I’m not a big fan of that “fake” layering look of multiple sewn-together jackets. I like to keep control over every layer I wear. So I prefer to wear real layers – which I can also adjust to every outdoor condition anytime. Another nice side effect is that you can wear every piece separately as well and also layer them in different ways. And variety always wins!
