Soft, softer, The Lionheaded!
A couple of weeks ago I already wrote a whole blogpost about softness. The soft style, which is beaming us away from harsh realities these days has become even more justified by now.
One of the most inspiring shows from the SS19 collection (in stores now) was the Jacquemus menswear show. This show also inspired me for this beach dream look. The Jacquemus collection was shown at a beach near Marseilles (paradoxically a very rough town itself) and was glowing with an exceptionally airy ease. Everything was flowing and looked supercosy.
I totally got Jacquemus vision of the new men he called the “gadjo”, a hunky outsider archetype from the South whose wardrobe spans knit tanks and teensy bathing briefs to airy suit jackets and shorts. “I don’t think there is this Mediterranean boy in the market,” the designer said “not with a solar energy like this.”
Softness leads the way
I don’t know if it’s just a sign of my old age or still my intuition for what’s next. But for me there is no other way than going for comfy lightweight and easy garments. Maybe sometimes with a twist but they still have to have the effortless ease. It’s all about knits, soft trousers and shorts. Easy lightweight sneakers or espadrilles lead us far away from the already fed up junky sneaker mainstream. All made of quality cotton, silk or light wool.
