This is the film photography follow up issue. How has it been – am I still a fan of analog photography? Inclusive a follow up on Colmar x Shayne Oliver ‘s collaboration.
Follow up
Yes, I am I love with the soft tones and imperfections an analog set up offers you. And I also love the thrill you have while waiting to get your pictures processed. I also love how it slows down the process of creating an Image and the attention you put in every image.
Slow down
Slowing down the whole image creation is not a bad thing at all. As I mentioned it can be really thrilling waiting on your results but while taking the pictures also the model has to slow down since you try a lot harder to find a right angle and pose. I also have to focus manually on my Canon AE-1 which freezes poses unintentionally even more until you finally push the trigger.
The essence
So I’m after all a real fan of Analog photography and I can recommend trying it. Getting to know analog camera and film photography better is like getting to the essence of photography itself. Today we all produce too much photo-data which ends up in stacks of hard disks – I recommend the less is more principle! Read more about my first impressions here. And it’s funny how many 36 pictures can feel while shooting film – compared to digital shooting where you shoot sometimes 1000 pictures with the same outcome.
Colmar x Shayne Oliver pt2
Another follow up is more about the future – the latest collection by the traditional Italien Brand Colmar and creative mastermind Shayne Oliver. As expected again lot’s of futuristic styles. Styles thought outside the box. Inside out Jackets and styles made out of reassembled pieces from different categories. Like this Top I wear here which is a combination from a T-shirt combined with a parka jacket.
