The soul is placed in the body like a rough diamond, and must be polished, or the luster of it will never appear.
Passing by at Icelands most iconic beach, the “Diamond Beach”, was one of my highlights on my Iceland trip.
Iceland is a destination unlike any other in the world. It has everything, from the modern capital of Reykjavik with its cafés and exciting nightlife, to its unique landscapes, jaw-dropping scenery and natural wonders. Reykjavik is the best city in the world at utilising geothermal energy because of the high concentration of volcanoes in the area. Some 95% of buildings are connected to a district heating system, which has a geothermal power station as it’s source. The electricity is produced almost entirely by renewables. It is known as the Land of Fire and Ice because you’ll find both active volcanoes and gorgeous blue glaciers side by side on this tiny island.
With this in mind, it’s easy to see why and how Iceland has become such a popular holiday destination in recent years. Those cheap stopover flights have helped greatly too, encouraging more families and avid travellers to make the journey. While it may not be the most budget-friendly country in the world, there are still ways that you can see the sights without breaking the bank! It is actually possible to drive the entirety of the island, so many people hire campervans so that they can drive from natural wonder to natural wonder, experiencing every inch of this beautiful island.
